Crescent Bar Cousin weekend!

My second trip to Crescent bar this summer was a little different. Cap came up from California!

He parked at my place and I drove us over. I decided to put my beach cruiser on the roof rack in case we needed an extra means of transportation.

We arrived Friday evening. We had dinner at the Sand Trap. It was really crowded because of the pre season football game. Oh and I met Bill Wixey, q13 news anchor when we arrived. Very friendly guy!

Anyway, the service was extra bad today.  I ordered a Caesar salad. Menu indicated I could add chicken for $3.00.  I did not. Of course my salad came with Chicken!   sigh...

After dinner we went to Dan and Tonys trailer to get ready for the evening.  Dan gave Cap a tour ,while Tony and I prepared the beds.

We stayed up much too late of course. It got really windy later, we went down to the river around 11 and it was too windy.

I joke that every weekend at Crescent Bar is like a tv show. Last episode a few weeks ago, it was all about the neighbors faulty prop.  Oh the discussion!  heated debates!  on and on and on and on and on they talked about his guys prop. The guy who owns the boat wasn't even there. Didn't matter, these people were going to solve the problem.  Ha ha. I left early Sunday and missed the ending!

This episode was the Bear!  yep, a Bear came down from the hills, most likely because of the fires in the area.  The whole park quiclly spread the news from home to home.   The game wardens arrived around noon to try to find the bear.  They left around 4, empty handed. About 5 pm, the dang Bear popped out of the brush two trailers down from Dan!  It was a big bear, 6 -7 feet tall.  He quickly ran back into the brush.
The next am the wardens were back.   Not sure how it turned out. Also, goflers reported wild turkeys on the golf course.  Same as the bear, they assume the animals are lost or displaced from the fires.

On Saturday it was raiing when I awoke. It didn't get nice till around noon. The high was 85 degrees.  Last time I was here it was 101.   We finally got the boat out on the river around 5 when everyone was coming back in!  We toured the river. The wind died down, it was very nice out there. I went swimming by the party beach.. We could see the crowds coming in to the Gorge Amphitheater for the Black Sabbath show that night.

Cap was able to get 27 holes of golf in!

John is a golf addict and was glad to meet Cap!

Jack Block Park

There is this odd park at the end of the beach, towards Spokane street.  It is mostly industrial down there, but for some reason they put a park there. I ride down to it on my bike on weekends occaisionally.

You can see a new ferry being build at  Vigor Shipyard

West Seattle Summer Fest

We missed it last year, but could hear the music from the top of the Hill

This year, we decided to go up Friday afternoon and get some food.  We found a place to park very close. I thought that there must be no one here.  Then we reached California Ave. WOW

This is one big festival! It stretches a mile with booth after booth of crafts and merchandise. A beer garden and big stage on the South end and am told Saturday they put a state on the North end too.

There was a ton of food, I ended up with a burrito. We ate, had a few beers, listened to music, looked at a million booths and went home. Next year we will have to come up Saturday night for the street dance.

Seafair Pirates land on Alki 2013

Kelsey came over to see the Pirates land on Alki. I took her home in early afternoon, came home and went out to find the Pirates in the bars!

I was so tired after all this. Lake Chelan, 4th of July and Pirates all in a week! ugh....

4th of July 2013

This year I skipped the 3rd of July street dance, due to just getting home from Chelan

Pat Hobbs joined me in the am and we took the water taxi over to Seattle, then boarded the ferry for Bainbridge.

We went straight for the food area. I met up with Kelsey and we all went and had some food. As usual I had the Falafel from the local synagogue.  It is decent, cheap, and no lines!

After the food Kelsey and I went to check out the Water Polo booth. Kelseys mom showed up and she left but I dropped $10 on some balls at the dunk tank. I hit the target with my second ball!  Good enough, I left for the beer garden to catch up with Pat!

I didn't see Pat yet, but there was the Minster Clan!  Blake, Suzie, Heather and Hank and Larry. Larry had been having fun all day it appeared!  We stayed with them for an hour or so, drinking some beer and listening to the band. Jim, Mark and Mike showed up

Pat, Jim, Mark, Mike and I went to Mikes house on Winslow way. We had a few beers, lit off some fireworks then went to see the rest of the parade.

After the parade we went back to the beer garden. We were supposed to catch up with the Minsters at some point, but decided that by now, they were most likely headed to Poulsbo. We went to Isla Bonita for a beer.

We ran into Marissa Acuna there. Had a nice converstation with her. Saw a few others, said hi, had beers.

Time to go back to city. We took a pit stop down at waterfront park on the way to the boat. Then Pat and I headed back to Seattle.

Kevin and Shana came out to watch fireworks with us on the beach. We could see Bainbridge and Lake union from very far away.

At 11, the cops came through and told us all to go home.  Then the cruiser rolled down the boardwalk, all the windows down, blasting "Closing Time"  everyone laughed, and peacefully left the beach.
