WIAA State 3A Basebal Championship - Safeco Field - 5/30/09

$9 bucks to see a baseball game at the Safe. We sat right behind home plate and watched Bainbridge vs O'dea play for the final. There was a big Bainbridge crowd that attended. Bainbridge lost. The girls won in Tacoma for State Fastpitch Championship.

BHS State Champion Fastpitch came by after their game to show off the Trophy

Doug T enjoying the game

This guy was sitting by himself why everyone else was celebrating downstairs in the galley. A bunch of little leaguers found him and asked for his autograph! I hope that helped the kid realize what a great accomplishment it is to get to the championship game. Celebrate!

Hood Canal Ferry during Bridge span replacement 5/31/09

I had to do it...

To use the ferry at Lofall, you MUST take a bus to the dock. You can board the bus at Port Gamble, Kingston Ferry, Silverdale Mall, or Bainbridge Ferry. The buses are charter buses and they are beautiful. Big spacious coaches. They have tvs above the seats. Luggage underneath.

I drove to the Port Gamble Park and Ride and boarded the bus at 1:30pm. The bus arrived at the Lofall dock at 1:40. The ferry leaves every half hour on the half hour. I waited 20 minutes.

I boarded the Victoria Star 2 and cruised across Hood Canal

On the other side there is a Jefferson County bus to take you to the Shine Park and Ride. Its just a regual ol stinky bus. I rode up to the Shine Park and Ride. Beautiful rock quarry (sarcasm).

Arrived back at the Shine dock and Boarded the 3:00 sailing back to Lofall, Kitsap County. I had to wait 10 minutes for the bus, then rode back to Port Gamble and concluded my journey.

Bremerton - Port Orchard Harbor Festival - Virginia V - 5/24/09

The girls and I went to the First Annual Harbor Festival in Bremerton and Port Orchard. Both sides of the passenger ferry route were full of activities and booths.

We chose to drive around to Port Orchard and go aboard the historic Mosquito Fleet Vessel, M/V Virginia V. I last rode aboard the Virginia V 24 years ago, for the Bainbridge High Senior Cruise. That was the last time I was aboard.

The boat has been restored and now the bulkheads that used to hide the steam engine are removed and you can see steam engine working. Its pretty cool, but I couldn't get any good picts of it.

The cruise was listed in the Kitsap Sun as leaving Port Orchard at 2 pm, for a one hour harbor cruise. We arrived at 1:25 and they were ready to set sail. We went aboard and paid for our fare, it was around $10 a person. As we left the harbor, the captain welcomed us for the one and a half hour cruise.. oh well, its the first Harbor Fest...

The kids were bored after a half an hour and I was bored after one hour.

After the cruise we went to the Taste of Port Orchard, which was part of the Harbor Fest.

There were maybe 8 booths. We went to Amys on the Bay and they had Oysters grilled in the Shell and Shrimp Skewers. We got a few of each (prices are all $1- $4 dollars. The kids had Pulled Pork Sliders from Moondoggie.
