As I was getting ready and trying to decide what ferry to take to go spend my afternoon in Winslow, I got the twitter update from WSF. One boat down on Seattle Bainbridge, on a major Holiday! I figured I was ok cause I was walking on.
B gave me a ride, I got there early but I milled about and tried to stay out of crowds till they started loading. It looked like a usual afternoon commuter crowd. No cause for alarm. As I was 30 feet from the turnstile they stopped loading. Sigh.
so, I went home.
First fourth of July in at least 17 years that I have missed being on Bainbridge. Mark M was going to meet me and Kelsey and I were going to have our usual lunch together. Oh well, better luck next year!

Kelsey Graduates!
Kelsey has worked so hard, we are all so proud of her. She graduated Bainbridge High School!
Mom and I went to the Graduation. I picked up mom and we drove. I dropped her off in front and went and parked. We got seated on the field, the bleachers were full. It was raining. I brought an umbrella but it was so packed that everyone's umbrella just dripped on everyone else! At least it was warm!
The graduation ceremony was fun. One valedictorian pointed out that her class has had a different Principal each year and they took credit for it!
Finally the rain stopped and the sun came out. A bald Eagle flew right over the graduates! It seemed like something out of a movie, the entire crowd gasped.
After the graduation ceremony we could not find Kelsey! I finally found her behind the stadium! I asked if she could come see Connie who was seated and resting. She came over, Jess, Dawn, Lou, Larry followed and we got some pictures!
Great day and then Kelsey spent a great night at the casino.

April 9, 2016. Connie turns EIGHTY!
Crista and I have been talking about this for years. We wanted to throw her a big party like Joyce had, when we all went to Sacramento. Connie is not Joyce. Not only does she NOT want a big party, she doesn't want anyone to know she is turning 80... Well, we can give her one, but not both!
Maddie found a nice restaurant in Port Orchard. Harbor Brix, or Brix25. The place featured a private dining room and boasted of amenities it didn't have.
I proposed we make a movie for Connie and get all the family who can't come to the party, to say happy birthday via video greeting. Crista helped and we got many of Connie's family and old friends to wish her a happy birthday.
The dinner was fabulous. It was our local family, minus Jess who was sick. Mikey, Danika and Colton came from Everett, the farthest guests.
Dinner was just great, the food well prepared. Mom was thrilled. She had no idea about the video, we sat her in front and played it for her.

Kelsey's early graduation present
I took Jessica and Kelsey and B to Hawaii in February of Jess's senior year. It was part of her graduation present.
Now it was Kelseys turn to graduate.
While Kelsey and I do travel well together, my best memories of our trips are her and Jess bonding. They worked together and were great sisters on our trips together. I wanted to somehow bring Jess into this.
Jess works a lot, and is gone all summer. I realized that there is a three day weelend for Dr King in January. I talked to Jessica and hatched my plan.
I sent Jessica and Kelsey to Universal Studios California for the weekend! I booked everything in advance, hired a driver and got them set up in the Hilton Universal City.
The kids did great. They had a great time. They gave me a really nice present afterwards!

Jingle Bell Run 2015
This year, I didn't want to do it. Kelsey is in remission, so no arthritis symptoms. It's cold and they changed the start time. I thought this year maybe do the MS Walk which we used to do before Kelsey was diagnosed with Arthritis.
Crista brought it up over breakfast, said she and kids were gonna do it. Ok I said, let's do it
Jessica was there. She was leaving for England soon so we planned a lunch for afterwards.
It was raining. It rained and it rained and it rained. We stood around in the rain. We went and did some window shopping. When the walk finally started, we were drenched and Crista's gang didn't show up.
We walked a few blocks then headed off to our cars.
I picked up pizza at Filippi's! Tony's pizza on Kitsap way. That place has been there for over 30 years. The pizza was ok.

Christmas 2015
This year Connie decided to play bridge on Christmas night, so I volunteered to bring a traditional breakfast Casserole over in the morning and open our presents.
The day before, I threw my back out. I was planning to go see Cousin Mike and the Mustells for Christmas Eve but didn't dare, so I could at least try to make it on Christmas.
Bronwen drove, I kept an ice pack on my back and we picked up Kelsey and we went to Grandmas. Jessica was in England.
When we got there, she ushered us to Crista's. I was concerned as I was on muscle relaxers that make me cranky. I had to really try to be relaxed. We opened our presents and ate casserole.
Maddie and Mitch were at Mitch's parents in Idaho.
On the ferry home I was walking laps to stretch my back and I ran into John Sloat and family. I said hi and went on my way to stretching.
Kevin and Shana came over a few days later when they got back from Oregon. Kimmi in Brazil and Devin a no show.

Thanksgiving 2015
We lost Ed Swalling this year a month before Thanksgiving. The funeral was nice, saw everyone and I promised to scan the old pictures from Ed and Sander's Montana trips
At lunch, in Auburn, Crista announced that she was going to do Thanksgiving dinner at her house. I had already discussed going to Everett with mom a few weeks before. I said I was not sure about her plan. Crista said that Mom can't make to Everett, which was odd since we were all in Auburn.
Thanksgiving was nice, everyone from the Kitsap side was there. Jessica and James indicated they have not seen each other in some time but it seems like they had to have seen each other last Christmas.
I do miss not spending time with the Mustells and Danika's new baby Colton who turns 1 soon. But it appears I am the only one who feels that way, so that's the way it goes.
Christmas should be uneventful this year. Crista is not doing a dinner and Jessica will be out of town, in England for the Holiday and the Everett family will not come over.
