Yelllowstone Day 2

We left the Hotel around 9 due to time change!   We haeded back downtown to buy groceries. I wanted to go to this market we saw the day before, Roseurs.   I thought we should get the full Montana experience.   The store was out of everything I wanted...  Then, we found out the store is based out of Spokane, WA!  so much for Montana experience.

On the road again, we left I-90 around Butte for a smaller road to take us to the West Entrance.  it looked a lot like Eastern Washington, but we could see Mountains all around us.  Quick break at a rest stop  The dang thing has all private stalls. You go into your own little room with a toilet and a sink!   Cool.

Arrived at the gate around 3. It was a massive toll building with 4 or 5 lanes.  Every car entering had to stop to pay or show proof of payment. The ranger gave us some maps and other informational guides.   We were now on the way to the camp ground.  Madison Campground, 6800 feet!

We got our tent site and went to set up the tent for the first time.  It went up pretty easy, its just so dang big that it is a bit hard to handle.   We got camp all set and took a walk to the river. It is beautiful, like a postcard.  I often felt we were in a postcard.

After the river, we decided to run up to Old Faithful.   Yellowstone was very hot, at least 10 degrees higher than normal.  Once we got out at Old Faithful, it was 3:30 and very, very hot.  We had 30 min until the next predicted eruption.  We toured the History of Yellowstone photography exhibit and checked out the gift shop.  I had a mini pizza.

We waited for 10 minutes or so in the heat but the dang thing finally blew.. Wow.. just wow. It was cool.

After that we headed back to camp to make our dinner of hot dogs on a stick!
getting ready for the shot!
